New Richmond played two outstanding periods against Hudson, sandwiched around a real stinker. The Tigers played with excellent energy in the first period, building a 4-0 lead. The Tigers outshot Hudson 13-7 in the first period.
The Tigers extended the lead to 5-0 with a power play goal one minute into the second period. Then the Tigers lost their composure, taking several unnecessary penalties. Hudson dominated the rest of the second period, scoring three unanswered goals. Hudson outshot the Tigers 15-6 in the second period.
Give the Tigers credit for returning to top form in the third period. The Tigers outshot Hudson 24-3 in the final period, snuffing out any hopes Hudson had of making a comeback.
The Tigers will now face Superior to decide which team advances to state. These two teams met in the sectional title game last season, with New Richmond winning by a 4-3 score.
