Walking pass available
If the colder weather is getting to you, you still have time to secure a walking pass for the Community Commons and Starr Elementary in New Richmond.
It’s a very simple process and is a great way for people to be able to continue to walk in a safe environment.
The 2011-12 walking pass allows you entrance into the Starr Elementary building and the Community Commons for free walking on your own.
At Starr Elementary, 967 S. Starr Ave., walkers should enter through the main entrance (front doors). Walkers are free to walk in the hallways on both floors, take the stairs or the elevator from 7 to 8:30 a.m. and then again from 3:45 to 8 p.m. You can also use the cafeteria and gym when they are free and open only. Note: In the evenings, you must arrive between 3:45 p.m. and 6 p.m. You are allowed to stay walking in the building until 8 p.m.
At the Community Commons, 421 S. Green Ave., walkers are free to walk the hallways on the lower floor from 7 to 8 p.m. You can use the gym when it is free and open. (Note: At this time the stairs are not available for walking at the Community Commons.)
At both locations, walking passes are good when school is in session Mondays through Fridays. You cannot use the building when school is closed due to weather, holidays, or scheduled breaks. Please refer to the following calendar for school holidays and breaks.
Rules: Must show ID to obtain pass at Community Commons; must carry this pass with you when you are in the buildings; must show pass to district employees, at their request; no one except the name listed on this card can use this pass; the School District has the right to revoke this pass at any time.
The 2011-12 Walking Pass expires the last day of school, June 6, 2012. Call Community Education with any questions or concerns: 715-243-7421.
